COLLABORATIONS
Art Comes First x Fred Perry
Some collaborations become real synergies. When both parties blindly understand each other’s philosophy and heritage. Art Comes First is like a logical extension to traditional British brand Fred Perry, the result of their continuous collaboration being a perfect harmony despite apparent opposites. Because where youth and subcultures turn the laurel wreath into an underdog uniform, doors to different cultures, musical styles and art forms are opening up. And this is exactly where Art Comes First feels at home, expanding the world of Fred Perry with rich influences from all over the world and different decades.
Always Cut First
This project is to highlight the collaboration between Art Comes First and Creators, Makers and Storytellers with a shared understanding that nothing should be wasted. Reworking, reduce, reuse, recycle and renewing what was left behind from the ACF archives, every scrap was utilised to create a new beauty.
The Blues
The Blues’, shot in the Rift Valley, Ethiopia. The title is a reminder of the power and influence of blues music, stemming from its origins in slavery and the migration of Black people across lands and cities. By definition it is melancholic and sombre yet at the same time, deeply cathartic and designed to bring enjoyment. A poem written by collaborator, spoken word artist Big Rube of the Atlanta-based Dungeon Family and of Society of Soul, serves as the sonic score giving voice to the story being told.
British suits tend to be sympathetic to any body type. The military-inspired cut makes men look lean, muscular, and regal
REBEL UNIFORM
Tuxedo: this style earns applause across the board, especially when the jacket features a shawl lapel. On a city suit, though, it’s the formal tailoring equivalent of a motorcycle jacket and best left to resolute rebels. A good couturier must be an architect for design, a sculptor for shape, a painter for color, a musician for harmony, and a philosopher for temperance.
