S.U.I.T. - Smart. Uniform. Impeccably. Tailored.
In 2016, Art Comes First (ACF) presented S.U.I.T., an immersive installation at Dover Street Market, transforming traditional tailoring into an artistic statement. The installation showcased ACF’s collection pieces, redefining the suit as more than just attire—it became a symbol of identity, heritage, and discipline.
The installation featured suspended mannequin-like figures with tribal masks, custom-tailored shirts, boots and structured hats—an artistic commentary on the intersection of ancestry and modernity. The sharply constructed silhouettes reflected ACF’s commitment to craftsmanship, while the curated styling reinforced the cultural significance of uniformity and self-expression.
S.U.I.T. challenged the conventional perception of suits, expanding beyond the classic blazer and tailored trousers. It emphasized that a suit is not just a formal ensemble, but anything intentionally composed—a denim set, a tracksuit, a coordinated uniform, or any garments that sit together with purpose and aesthetics. By redefining what is considered “suited,” the installation blurred the lines between tailoring, streetwear, and utilitarian fashion, reinforcing ACF’s belief that style is about composition, not convention.
By positioning the suit as both armor and canvas, S.U.I.T. demonstrated that clothing is an extension of identity, where tradition meets innovation. The installation not only highlighted ACF’s tailoring ethos but also reinforced the brand’s philosophy of merging heritage with contemporary design in a powerful, visual experience.
